Argentina – Flight Suspensions – Nationwide 30 April
Aerolineas Argentina (AR) and LATAM Airlines Argentina (4M) plan to suspend all flights across Argentina, April 30 amid a broad labour strike. The measure is expected to affect around 22,000 passengers.
The airlines’ decision to suspend flights was made in response to a nationwide strike organised by the several unions over labour-related grievances and the economic policies of President Mauricio Macri. Members of the Association of Airline Pilots (Asociacion de Pilotos de Lineas Aereas, APLA), which represents around 2,000 pilots, plan to join the strike.
Disruptions to international and domestic flights are likely at airports nationwide, especially at Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (AEP) and Ministro Pistarini International Airport (EZE) in Buenos Aires. Lingering disruptions will probably continue even after the strike ends as carriers work through their passenger backlogs.
Contact booking agents or airline representatives immediately if scheduled to fly with Aerolineas Argentina or LATAM Airlines Argentina, April 30. Do not check out of hotels before verifying onward travel. Avoid all protests.
