Spain – Airport Security Strike 12 April – Madrid
Unionised security staff at Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD) employed by Ilunion are planning an indefinite strike from April 12 to demand better benefits and working conditions. Significant disruptions are likely to security operations at the airport, including increased time for check-in procedures.
If the strike is protracted, knock-on disruptions to flight schedules may result in delays and cancellations.
It is currently unclear how long the walk-out may last. Talks are ongoing between union representatives and employers; the strike could be called off at short notice.
Confirm flight schedules at MAD through April. Do no check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Allow additional time to transit through MAD. If departing from MAD, arrive at the airport early due to potential processing delays.
If your travel plans are affected by the above or you require further information please contact your HRG Office.
